AWA7.org Website History

The Adventist Webservant Assistance website "AWA7.org" was started in 2004 by members of the NAD/PlusLine "eChurch Award" website evaluation team. The site was originally called "Adventist Webservants Association", and was tasked with helping Adventist pastors, administrators, evangelists and webmasters to construct and develop effective websites for the mission of our Lord Jesus Christ.

BEGAN WITH THE NAD eCHURCH AWARD AND THE GAiN 2004 CONFERENCE
The NAD eChurch Award, which operated from 2003 thru 2006, was sponsored by the North America Division, the Pacific Union Conference "PlusLine" Ministry, and TAGnet. The award
was confered each month on a local Adventist church judged to have the best website, as determined by the evaluation team. The evaluation team soon realized that while the eChurch Award identified good websites for local church webmasters to emmulate, it did not give website teams and webmasters the tools needed to produce functional and attractive websites. It became apparent that what was needed was a webservant help website functioning as an online resource for webmasters, web ministry leaders and administrators. Concrete plans for the "AWA7.org" website were developed in cooperation with several attendees of the "Global Internet Evangelism Network" (GIEN) Forum event held at the General Conference headquarters in October 2004. Since 2013, this annual Internet ministry event has been called the "Global Adventist Internet Network" (GAiN) Conference. One of the eChurch Award team members, layperson David Buxton, volunteered to construct the website, using classic website hosting provided by TAGnet, a Web hosting service provider now called netAserve. AdventWeb provided project administration, and financial sponsorship was provided by the Pacific Union Conference through their Evangelism Endowment Fund.

MIGRATION TO THE "NETADVENTIST" CONTENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (CMS)
During 2010 the original AWA7.org FTP "classic" hosted website was migrated over to the netAdventist content management system (CMS). The migration was carried out by netAserve, provider of technical services and support for the netAdventist product. The AWA7.org domain was routed to the new netAdventist website at the beginning of 2011. A
project was subsequently launched by AdventWeb Ministry to overhaul the content on the migrated site. This project is still ongoing!
