CLASSIC FTP HOSTING OF WEBSITES
SORRY, THIS WEBPAGE IS STILL UNDER CONSTRUCTION
Classic "File Transfer Protocol" (FTP) hosting involves the construction of a website using web design software installed on your persoanl computer (PC). The most common software is a design program called Dreamweaver. The software produces all the HTML code necessary for the website's pages to be correctly displayed in a browser. The design for the website, and all of its content, is stored by the software as a package of computer code files on your PC. This code is then transmitted as a package to the server computer using "File Transfer Protocol" (PTP) software. This method of constructing and hosting websites on the Web was the standard method in the early days of the Internet. Hence this type of hosting is often referred to as "classic FTP hosting". By far the vast majority of websites today and now constructed/hosted on the Web using a "Web Content Management System" (WCMS), more commonly called simply a "Content Management System" or "CMS".
